Job summary

Columbia Post Acute in Missouri is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain safe, clean, and orderly environments across common areas and resident rooms in a long-term care facility. You will clean lobbies, restrooms, floors, rooms, and walls, while ensuring dust control, odor management, and proper disposal of trash.

The role requires following safety procedures, using signage, handling supplies responsibly, and coordinating with supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience in long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain public and common areas throughout the day (lobby, restrooms, floors).
• Clean resident rooms and bathrooms; handle dust, dirt, and debris from walls, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Empty trash and replace liners; sweep and mop floors.
• Follow safety measures, use caution signage, and keep supplies out of residents' reach.
• Maintain housekeeping carts and equipment in safe, sanitary condition.
• Notify Director of Housekeeping or Nursing/Administrator about safety concerns or supply needs.

Job description

Define the roles and responsibilities of the Housekeeper within a long-term care facility. The purpose is to maintain a safe, orderly and clean environment free of obstacles and odors.

• Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including
• lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors.
• Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.
• Maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris.
• Clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures. towel bars, towel dispensers.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.
• Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions.
• Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner.
• Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.
• Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished.
• Excellent customer skills and positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.

Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification

Education and/or Experience

Minimum requirement to perform the essential functions of this position is a High School Diploma or a GED. Experience working in a long-term care facility preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Fluent in written and spoken English.
