Job summary

Elevate Care Des Plaines is hiring a vigilant Housekeeper / Firewatch to maintain a clean, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. You will conduct firewatch rounds, monitor for hazards, and report issues while performing routine housekeeping tasks.

The role emphasizes life-safety priorities, adherence to procedures, and thorough documentation. Prior experience in housekeeping, maintenance, security, or firewatch is preferred, and you will be trained on facility fire-safety

Qualifications

• Reliable and responsible team member.
• Previous housekeeping, custodial, maintenance, security, or firewatch experience preferred.
• Ability to walk throughout the facility and complete rounds.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize potential safety hazards.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to accurately complete required documentation.
• Must complete required fire-safety and emergency-response training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and documented firewatch rounds throughout the facility.
• Monitor for smoke, fire, burning odors, electrical hazards, blocked exits, and other potential fire risks.
• Keep hallways, corridors, exits, stairways, and emergency access areas clear and safe.
• Identify and immediately report fire hazards or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain accurate firewatch logs documenting rounds, observations, and notifications.
• Follow all facility fire-safety and emergency procedures.
• Remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned shift.
• When not conducting firewatch rounds, perform routine housekeeping duties.
• Keep common areas, storage areas, and housekeeping areas clean and organized.
• Report maintenance issues, leaks, damaged equipment, or other safety concerns.
