Responsibilities

• Cleans floors and walls using Germicidal Disinfectant in patient care units, exam rooms, offices and grounds.
• Sanitizes rest rooms with Germicidal Disinfectant and replenishes supplies.
• Transports trash, soiled linen, red bag waste, and sharp object containers following safety procedures.
• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Uses department chemicals according to standards for safety and effectiveness.
• Cleans daily patient rooms including bedside table, overbed table, patient restroom and trash relining.
• Cleans patient rooms after discharge to prepare for next patient use.
• Performs floor care such as buffing, stripping, waxing and extraction.
• Attends staff meetings as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Under the general supervision of the Environmental Services Manager, the Attendant, Housekeeping, the incumbent will skillfully operate all floor equipment and machines. Make lower-level production decisions based on occupancy and traffic on hospital floors. Must be skillful in all housekeeping production or show ability to perform skillfully within 90 days. Transports trash and linen (clean and soiled). Knowledgeable of health care systems, and have demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.

The incumbent will carry-out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Cleans floor and wall surfaces with a Germicidal Disinfectant in designated areas such as patient care units, examination rooms, offices, and immediate grounds by washing, sweeping, vacuuming, or mopping with specified cleaning agents; removes spillages by wet mopping as necessary. Cleans isolation rooms and surgical areas to high standards of cleanliness and sterilization as directed. SPECIAL NOTE: Specific duties may vary depending on the assigned area.
• Sanitizes rest rooms with a Germicidal Disinfectant using brushes, bowl mop, mops, and other materials as required. Replaces items such as toilet paper, hand towels, hand soap.
• Transports from soiled utility rooms and empties trash, soiled linen, red regulated waste, and sharp object receptacles in specified collection areas. Using safety procedures to comply the hazardous waste requirements.
• Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner. Operates cleaning equipment both mechanical and electrical to remove soils, stains, and other debris from assigned areas.
• Uses chemicals and supplies according to department standards to ensure safety and efficiency. Hospital uses an approved Germicidal Disinfectant cleaner.
• Cleans daily patient rooms to include bedside table, overbed table, patient restroom, spot checking walls emptying and relining trash containers. Dry/Damp mopping/vacuuming. Frequently touched surfaces.
• Cleans patient rooms after patient has been discharged, using the department procedure for discharge cleaning, to ensure room is available for immediate use.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance work on hard and soft floors by buffing, stripping, waxing and extraction.
• Use and maintain buffers and extractors in a safe manner and ensure that they are properly stored away after use.
• Attend staff meetings as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred: 1+ years of Hospital and floor care experience
