Firelands-Health is seeking a Housekeeping Attendant/Floor Tech for a full-time, on-site role with a 10:00 PM–6:30 AM shift in Sandusky, OH. The position includes a $2,000 retention bonus, shift differential, competitive pay, tuition assistance, and retirement plan matching.

Qualifications

• Able to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.
• Experience with floor cleaning equipment preferred.
• Able to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic.
• OSHA/CDP PPE compliance and safety awareness.
• Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal solutions.
• Strip and finish floors; sweep, mop, vacuum, and arrange furniture after cleaning.
• Clean in outpatient and sterile processing areas as prescribed by procedures.
• Complete all scheduled tasks without compromising quality; follow up on incomplete work from previous shifts.
• Empty waste, collect linen, and manage hazardous waste per Infection Control.
• Operate cleaning equipment (buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums) and report repairs or hazards.
• Climb ladders to hang drapes or reach high areas; arrange furniture for meetings.

What You Will Do:

• Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions. Cleans assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, televisions, and windows; strips and makes patient beds.
• Strips and applies floor finish and polishes floors; sweeps and mops floor areas, vacuums and cleans carpets, using appropriate solutions, and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning assigned area.
• Cleans in outpatient and sterile processing using proper cleaning solutions and as prescribed by departmental procedures.
• Thoroughly completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without sacrificing the quality of work. Completes work left from previous work shifts and reports all incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of procedures.
• Collects waste from all areas of hospital and sanitizes all waste cans. Collects soiled linen. Collects hazardous waste as established by Infection Control Committee.
• Operates various types of cleaning equipment both mechanical and electrical, i.e. buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums. Cleans equipment and notifies supervisor of equipment needing repair. Reports safety hazards to supervisor.
• Climbs ladder to hang cubicles, window drapes, or reach high areas for other cleaning purposes.
• Arranges furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs.

What You Will Need:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.

Prefer experience with floor cleaning equipment and ability to strip and refinish floors and clean carpets.

• Ability to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.

Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
