Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury in Winchester, VA is seeking a Housekeeping and Linen Supervisor to oversee the Housekeeping and Linen Department within Environmental Services. This role directly supports the Senior Manager of Resident Experience and supervises staff.

Ideal candidate has an associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, at least 1 year in housekeeping, and 2 years of management experience preferred, plus a valid driver’s license.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Housekeeping and Linen Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services

RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager of Resident Experience

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Staff within the Housekeeping and Linen Department

JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the supervision of overall operations within the Housekeeping and Linen Department. Directs and may perform housekeeping duties necessary to keep the Community maintained in an aesthetic and well-preserved manner.

Coordinates with the Senior Manager of Resident Experience to cover in the absence of the others.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSURE:

1. Associate degree preferred, or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent work experience in related field required.

2. Minimum one year of housekeeping experience.

3. Minimum two years of management experience preferred.

4. Valid Driver's License required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with the overall operations and activities within the Housekeeping and Linen Department.
• Assists the Senior Manager of Resident Experience with the selection, supervision, evaluation, training and development of Housekeeping and Laundry Services staff.
• Supports and demonstrates practices consistent with the mission, philosophy, standards and policies and procedures of the Housekeeping and Linen Departments.
• Maintains good relations with staff, visitors, and residents.
• Receiving, coordinating and documenting immediate staff changes/coverage.
• Coordinate and assist with emergency housekeeping issues throughout the facility.
• Contact communication with Senior Manager of Resident Experience with overall daily operations.
• Directs department in the absence of the Manager.
• Assists with the development and monitoring of the Housekeeping and Linen Department budget.
• Assists with data input and monitoring of the WorxHub Housekeeping program.
• Performs housekeeping inspections in Health Care, Blue Ridge Hall, Assisted Living and Independent Living.
• Performs daily tours throughout community to ensure environment is aesthetically pleasing.
• Helps coordinate work of all sub contractors and outside companies.
• Assists with the Preventive Maintenance of all housekeeping equipment.
• Assists with organization and management of isolation carts.
• Pursues educational opportunities/training as needed to maintain knowledge of trade changes.
• Other duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY: Within areas of responsibility, to make administrative decisions under the guidelines of the policies and procedures of the facility. To assist with hiring, training, evaluating, directing, disciplining, and discharging those for whom responsible.

RANGE OF MOTION

Must be able to climb (ladders and such) and be able to reach and balance from the ladders.

Must be able to kneel or squat for 1 of an 8 hour shift.

Must be able to walk continually for 2 hours.

Must be able to stand for 2 hours.

Must have mobility of all parts of the body, walking, bending, lifting, reaching above head and use of hands.

Must be able to stand and/or mobilize by walking for 50% of an 8 hour shift.

Some tasks may require sitting for 50% of the work day.

WORKING CONDITIONS

May be required to work near or with voltages (up to 480 volts AC).

May have to work in hot (over 80 degrees F) or cold (under 32 degrees F) environment.

Must be able to work under stress.
