Basic Function
Provides a clean and sanitary environment for staff and residents using proper policies and procedures.
Essential Duties
- 1. Wet mops resident rooms and bathrooms daily.
- 2. Uses “Wet Floor” signs and other cautions as indicated.
- 3. Dusts in assigned work areas.
- 4. Cleans draperies and privacy curtains.
- 5. Cleans resident beds and closets per schedule.
- 6. Sanitizes resident unit using proper policies and procedures.
- 7. Washes windows and mirrors per schedule.
- 8. Cleans vaporizers per policies and procedures.
- 9. Properly sanitizes resident utensils in a timely manner.
- 10. Shampoos and cleans carpeting per schedule and prn.
- 11. Labels all compounds and chemicals properly and stores them in locked storage areas.
- 12. Follows user directions for all compounds and chemicals.
- 13. Uses proper body mechanics
- 14. Follows proper infection control practices.
- 15. Follows proper hand washing practices.
- 16. Washes walls and ceilings.
- 17. Keeps ash trays and wastebaskets emptied.
- 18. Adheres to cleaning duties and schedule for area assigned.
- 19. Disposes of garbage safely, promptly, and in a sanitary manner.
- 20. Reports promptly any indication of rodents and other pests.
- 21. Maintains clean storage area.
- 22. Stores cleaning rags in closed metal containers.
- 23. Observes for resident safety when in resident care areas.
- 24. Maintains fire aisles when using cleaning cart.
- 25. Observes, reports, and intervenes in potential fire/safety hazards.
- 26. Ensures one chair with arms per resident per room.
- 27. Returns folding chairs to proper place when not in use.
- 28. Treats residents and staff with respect and dignity.
- 29. Adheres to all facility and department safety policies and procedures.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from Housekeeping Supervisor.
Qualifications
- No convictions for abuse, neglect or mistreatment or for misappropriation of property.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read, write and make simple calculations and follow oral and written directions.
- Knowledge of principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling housekeeping tasks and equipment.
Physical Requirements
Note: In terms of an 8 hour workday, “Occasionally” equals 1% to 33%; “Frequently,” 34% to 66%; “Continuously,” 67% to 100%.
