Jewel Health & Rehab in Allentown is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to maintain a clean, sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
You will clean resident rooms, hallways, lounges, restrooms, and offices, and ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals while following infection control procedures. The role requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
The Housekeeping Aide plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for daily cleaning and disinfecting of resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and facility offices in accordance with federal, state, and facility standards.
Clean resident rooms, hallways, lounges, restrooms, offices, and other assigned areas.
Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces as scheduled.
Change bed linens and make beds as needed.
Collect and dispose of trash and soiled linens in a safe and sanitary manner.
Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other supplies.
Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to supervisor.
Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Comply with infection control and safety procedures, including PPE usage.
Maintain confidentiality and respect for all residents.
Follow daily assignment sheets and cleaning schedules.
Attend in-service training as required.
Support emergency cleaning tasks as needed (e.g., spills, isolation rooms).
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience, preferably in healthcare or long-term care, is a plus.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs).
Able to stand and walk for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Compassionate and respectful demeanor with residents and staff.
Fast-paced healthcare setting.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and varying temperatures.
Use of protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and gowns when required.
