Job Summary

As a Housekeeping and Laundry Aide, you will be responsible for maintaining the facility's cleanliness, safety, and comfort in accordance with federal, state, and local standards. Working under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, your role ensures that residents and staff are provided with a clean and hygienic environment.

Pay Rate: $16-$18 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Housekeeping and Laundry Aide, your responsibilities include:

  • Following cleaning schedules outlined by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Reporting all accidents and incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity.
  • Cleaning, washing, sanitizing, and/or polishing fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, bathroom fixtures, and other surfaces.
  • Washing, sanitizing, and maintaining laundry.
  • Cleaning floors daily, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
  • Disposing of waste/trash properly, following facility procedures, and relining trash receptacles with plastic liners.
  • Following established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
  • Mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and cleaning solutions correctly, referencing manufacturer’s instructions as needed.
  • Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling infectious materials, hazardous wastes, or chemicals.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills

To succeed as a Housekeeping and Laundry Aide, you will need:

  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • The ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds and solutions.
  • A willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel and handle residents appropriately at their current maturity level.
  • A minimum of 2 years of housekeeping supervisory experience (preferred).
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and carry weights of at least 25 pounds for a distance of 50 feet.
