Job summary

Palms Behavioral Health is seeking an on-site Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe patient care environment. You will perform daily cleaning tasks, operate cleaning equipment, and ensure infection control standards are followed to support a healthy facility.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic English literacy, and the ability to receive directions. CPR/de-escalation training may be required. This is an on-site position at the Harlingen facility.

• Basic reading, writing, speaking skills and understand English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions required.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain a sanitary patient care environment and advises supervisor on equipment needs.
• Cleans facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices and halls using buffers, scrubbers, sweepers and related equipment.
• Disposes waste, transports laundry, and ensures infection control standards are followed.

Housekeeping | Palms Behavioral Health | Harlingen, TexasAbout the Job:PURPOSE STATEMENT:The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping a clean and healthy patient care environment by maintaining assigned areas in a clean, safe, sanitary and orderly manner. Advises supervisor on environmental services equipment needs and repairs. Ensures that infectious waste and confidential disposal contractors perform as scheduled.Roles and Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Performs specific cleaning and custodial tasks in the general upkeep, sanitation and cleanliness of the facility. Conducts daily cleaning of the facility including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing of fixtures, general straightening, and cleaning of bathrooms.Cleans facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices and halls. Utilizes buffers, scrubbers, sweepers and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.Washes bed frames, brushes mattresses and remakes beds after discharge of clients, when applicable.Keeps utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.Operates commercial washers and dryers. Launders soiled linens as directed.Attends to infection control standards, transports soiled linen to storage area and distributes laundered articles and items.Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors. Work is performed with careful attention to slips/fall risks during and after cleaning floors.Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies. Dusts furniture and equipment.Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.Empties wastebaskets, transports trash and waste to disposal area.Disinfects rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies, using appropriate processes and germicides for cleaning equipment.Conducts daily check of cleaning cart to determine inventory of supplies. Maintains adequate cleaning supplies for department/unit use.Conducts daily check of linen supply closet to determine inventory of supplies.Properly cleans and stores all equipment and supplies after each shift.Practices standard/universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including instructions upon SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for materials encountered during task completion.Prepares rooms for meetings and arranges decorations and furniture for facility functions.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:High school graduate or equivalent preferred.Previous experience in housekeeping in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment preferred.Basic reading, writing, speaking skills and understand English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions required.LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:CPR and de-escalation certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).First aid may be required based on state or facility.WORK LOCATION:This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:This position is an Individual Contributor.Why Palms Behavioral Health?Palms Behavioral Health offers a comprehensive benefit plan and a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
