Job summary

Casa de las Campanas in San Diego seeks a Health Center Housekeeper to keep public and patient areas clean, safe, and welcoming in our senior care community. You will report hazards, assist with infections control, and follow facility cleaning protocols.

This role requires basic English communication, the ability to work independently, good physical stamina, and experience in institutional housekeeping. We offer an engaging work environment with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in institutional/health care housekeeping preferred.
• English communication at basic level (written and spoken).
• Ability to measure and mix cleaning chemicals and prepare supplies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs and operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains public and common areas in a safe, orderly, and sanitary condition.
• Identifies and reports repairs or unsafe conditions; responds to emergencies as needed.
• Handles and transports infectious waste in areas with infectious diseases.
• Cleans interior and exterior windows on a scheduled basis.
• Performs routine inspections to ensure quality standards are met.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To

• Maintains public and common areas of the facility in a safe, orderly and sanitary condition
• Must be able to identify and report need for repairs, unsafe conditions and respond appropriately in emergency situations
• Works in areas occupied by patients with known infectious diseases and will handle and transport infectious waste
• Cleans interior and exterior windows on a scheduled basis
• Conducts routine inspections of own area of assignment to ensure that departmental quality standards are achieved and maintained

Minimum Requirements

• One year of previous experience working in an institutional/health care housekeeping environment, preferred
• Ability to communicate at a basic level, orally and in writing, in English
• Ability to measure and proportion cleaning chemicals and solvents and calculate linen and supplies needed for work assignment
• Ability to work independently, without direct supervision
• Able to meet physical demands of position: Push and pull carts and equipment, up to 100 lbs. Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Able to use necessary cleaning equipment including: carpet cleaning equipment, wet and dry vacuum
• Able to measure and proportion cleaning chemicals and solvents
• Able to calculate the amount of linen and supplies needed for work assignment
• Able to pass background checks for a licensed community
• Able to wear personal protective equipment including masks and gloves as required by the CDC

The Fine Print

All Employees must be able to pass background checks (fitness for duty physical, fingerprinting, employment references) as required by a licensed residential care facility. Many roles within our community require that we ask about your vaccination status. Please note that all employees will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.
