GENERAL SUMMARY:

A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will enjoy various amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, and the park-like campus. They will benefit from a village designed specifically for their interests and needs while enjoying formal and informal programming and collaborative opportunities designed to promote intergenerational engagement with members of the college community. Broadview will offer the full continuum of services, inclusive of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community is slated to open to residents in the third quarter of 2023.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeper II is expected to work during the week, some weekends, and holidays. The housekeeper II is responsible for cleaning and servicing interior common spaces, bathrooms, lobbies, entrances, locker rooms, fitness room, salons, and other areas as assigned; including high and low dusting, damp wiping horizontal and vertical surfaces, and removing all trash. Other duties include cleaning and disinfecting sinks, toilets, urinals, partitions, and polishing mirrors and metals. The housekeeper will also dry mop and vacuum floors in all corridors and office areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs routine cleaning and related service work.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of Seven Basic Cleaning steps.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate chemical use to meet department standards.
  4. Practices proper methods of Infection Control in conjunction with cleaning procedures.
  5. Maintains closet, housekeeping cart, and cleaning equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  6. Adheres to departmental dress code and personal hygiene standards.
  7. Participates in staff meetings and attends all mandatory in-services.
  8. Works effectively as a member of the team.
  9. Demonstrates positive customer service skills.
  10. Communicates issues/concerns to Supervisor/Director as needed.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must possess a minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
  2. Ability to read and write.
  3. High School diploma or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. The ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language.
  2. Must be motivational, energetic with a passion for serving others.
  3. Must possess patience and sensitivity to others’ needs.
  4. Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  5. Good inter-department communication and teamwork skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lifts and carries up to 50 lbs. with assistance occasionally.
  2. Pushed and pulls up to 50 lbs. with assistance occasionally.
  3. Climbs, reaches, bends, and twists occasionally.
  4. Sits, stands, and walks frequently.
