Job summary

North Shore Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Cleaning Technician to help prevent the spread of infections by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing areas, disposing of hazardous waste, and sterilizing equipment as part of the hospital's environmental services team.

Responsibilities include following infection control guidelines, moving equipment, and maintaining sanitary conditions across patient and non-patient areas, with a typical 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and how to apply chemicals safely.
• Working knowledge of various cleaning tools like vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
• Experience in hospital or healthcare cleaning environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning duties in alignment with the organization and infection control guidelines.
• Completes waste stream removal.
• Clean and service assigned areas according to established procedures.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around the Medical Center departments and maintain sanitary conditions.
• Operates assigned equipment, such as floor machines and buffers.
• Attends unit/department meetings annually.
• Maintain assigned areas in a clean, safe and sanitary condition at all times.

Responsible for performing work aimed at preventing the spread of any diseases by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing areas, properly disposing of hazardous waste, and efficiently sterilizing equipment and apparatuses.

Essential Functions

• Performs cleaning duties in alignment with the organization and according to pre-established schedules and infection control guidelines.
• Completes waste stream removal.
• According to established procedures clean and service assigned areas.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around the Medical Center departments, and performs a variety of cleaning duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition.
• Operates assigned equipment, (floor machines, buffers).
• Participates in a minimum of eight unit/department meetings annually.
• Maintain assigned patient and non-patient areas in a clean, safe and sanitary condition at all times.
