Job Summary
This position involves maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for staff, residents, and visitors at the Masonic Homes of California in Covina.
Essential Functions
- Follow environmental services schedules and instructions from supervisors, adhering to established procedures.
- Clean assigned common areas and resident apartments, including bathrooms, kitchens, and other designated spaces.
- Disinfect areas as assigned, including furniture, walls, restrooms, exam rooms, resident rooms, and common areas.
- Remove trash from apartments and common areas, ensuring containers are clean and relined.
- Set up guestroom apartments after vacancy.
- Handle biohazard spills promptly and inform supervisors of hazards.
- Use wet floor signs appropriately during cleaning or spills.
- Work safely, avoiding hazards to oneself and others.
- Respond to emergencies and clean affected areas as needed.
- Report malfunctioning equipment and safety issues.
- Replace light bulbs in resident apartments and common areas.
- Maintain EVS carts and closets in a clean, safe condition.
- Handle infectious waste safely and properly.
- Maintain professional relationships with residents and co-workers.
Requirements
Educational Requirements/Licenses/CertificatesHigh school diploma or equivalent experience.
Skills, Abilities, and Experience- Prior experience in environmental services in a retirement facility or hospital preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of proper use of cleaning equipment and materials.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and assignments.
