Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and assigned areas according to facility standards.
• Maintain public and common areas including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and floors.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout the facility.
• Dust and wipe surfaces and fixtures.
• Follow infection-control practices and safety precautions.
• Notify supervisor when supplies need replenishing.

Housekeeper – Full-Time Garden City Health Care Center Pay Range: $17.48–$17.50 per hour

Help Us Create a Clean, Safe, and Welcoming Home Garden City Health Care Center is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Full-Time Housekeeper to join our team. Our Housekeepers play an essential role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for our residents, employees, and visitors. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, follows safety and infection-control practices, and approaches every resident and team member with kindness and respect.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and assigned areas according to facility standards.
• Maintain public and common areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout the facility.
• Dust and wipe down handrails, furniture, light fixtures, towel bars, dispensers, and other surfaces.
• Clean walls, mirrors, windows, and other assigned areas.
• Empty trash containers and replace liners as needed.
• Help keep assigned areas free of obstacles, odors, dirt, and debris.
• Use cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and facility procedures.
• Follow infection-control practices and established safety precautions.
• Place caution signs in appropriate locations when cleaning floors or addressing spills.
• Securely store chemicals, cleaning products, and equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping carts, storage rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean and organized condition.
• Notify the Housekeeping Director when supplies need to be replenished.
• Report equipment malfunctions, hazardous conditions, spills, and maintenance concerns promptly.
• Report resident safety concerns immediately to the Housekeeping Director, Administrator, Director of Nursing, or appropriate supervisor.
• Respect resident privacy, personal belongings, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Complete assigned cleaning schedules efficiently and within established timeframes.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
• Work independently and cooperatively as part of the facility team.
• Perform additional housekeeping duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience preferred; healthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care experience is a plus.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read and understand procedure manuals, safety information, and product directions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to solve practical problems and manage routine changes in assignments.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable attendance and a team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to maintain resident privacy and confidentiality.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and operate cleaning equipment throughout the shift.
