Job summary

Summit BHC West Virginia, LLC is seeking a Housekeeper for Highland Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. The role entails maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment in various areas of the facility. Responsibilities include conducting daily cleaning, disinfecting rooms and equipment, and operating laundry facilities.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience in healthcare. This is an onsite position, and a competitive salary along with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Housekeeper - Acute | Highland Hospital | Charleston, West Virginia

About the Job: The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping a clean and healthy patient care environment by maintaining assigned areas in a clean, safe, sanitary and orderly manner. Advises supervisor on environmental services equipment needs and repairs. Ensures that infectious waste and confidential disposal contractors perform as scheduled.

Roles and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform specific cleaning and custodial tasks in the general upkeep, sanitation, and cleanliness of the facility.
• Conduct daily cleaning of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing of fixtures, general straightening, and cleaning of bathrooms.
• Clean facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, and halls.
• Utilize buffers, scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.
• Wash bed frames, brush mattresses, and remake beds after discharge of clients when applicable.
• Keep utility and storage rooms neat and orderly.
• Operate commercial washers and dryers, launder soiled linens, transport soiled linen to storage area, and distribute laundered articles.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors; attend to slip/fall risks during and after cleaning floors.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
• Dust furniture and equipment.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and waste to disposal area.
• Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies using appropriate processes and germicides.
• Conduct daily checks of cleaning cart and linen supply closet to determine inventory of supplies.
• Properly clean and store all equipment and supplies after each shift.
• Practice standard/universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including instructions upon SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for materials encountered during task completion.
• Prepare rooms for meetings, arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, speaking skills and sufficient English to provide and receive instructions/directions required.

Licenses, Designations, and Certifications

• CPR and de-escalation certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Work Location

This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.

This position is an Individual Contributor.
