Cantex is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to perform scheduled tasks under the supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor. The role involves cleaning patient rooms, common areas, and equipment to maintain a clean, safe environment according to facility protocols.

Candidates should have English reading/writing skills and experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance. The position includes opportunities for in-service training and advancement within a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily according to facility protocols.
• Uses proper chemicals and cleans floors as directed.
• Empties trash and disposes of waste properly.
• Vacuums carpets as directed by Supervisor.
• Washes and dries windows using appropriate equipment.
• Reports repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance staff.
• Requests needed supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards and follows safety rules.
• Attends weekly in-services and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Contributes to patient/resident safety and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The overall purpose of the Housekeeping Assistant position is to perform scheduled housekeeping tasks as may be assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor. This position may mop, sweep, dust, wash windows, shampoo and vacuum carpets, arrange furniture, etc. and generally clean furniture, equipment, fixtures and hardware.

Qualifications:

• Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
• Experience in the use of floor-care equipment is helpful.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Essential Functions:

• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas on a daily basis and in accordance with Facility protocols.
• Uses proper chemicals in proper portions. May dust mop, wet mop, or spot-mop floors.
• Empties trash containers, replaces liners as appropriate and disposes of trash in proper receptacles.
• Vacuums carpets as directed by Supervisor.
• Utilizes proper chemicals and equipment to wash and dry windows.
• Reports repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate.
• Requests needed supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards and abides by safety rules.
• Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Network Policy and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employees responsibility to enforce it.
• Attends weekly in-services, understands, and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
