Job summary

Porter-Starke Services, Inc. in Valparaiso, IN, is seeking a full-time housekeeper to join our team. Hours are 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekends at the Valparaiso location.

The role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient and common areas, adhering to safety and infection-control guidelines, handling housekeeping chemicals, and maintaining a clean, safe facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; nursing home or hospital experience preferred.
• Familiar with chemicals and cleaners used in healthcare housekeeping.
• Knowledge of state and government agency housekeeping regulations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize lobbies, restrooms, offices and client rooms.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
• Dust furniture; clean rugs, carpets, draperies or blinds.
• Operate basic computer tasks; complete reports as requested.
• Follow safety, infection control and environmental procedures.

Hours are Monday thru Friday from 1pm-9:30pm, no weekends at our Valparaiso location.

May have to travel to other locations on occassion.

Competencies

The staff member must demonstrate knowledge of:

• General understanding of the techniques in housekeeping as outlined in state and government agency regulations.
• Chemicals and cleansers used when performing the duties of this position.
• Health care housekeeping procedures and techniques.

Essential Functions

• Utilizes proper procedures for safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Cleans and sanitizes lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, offices and client rooms.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts furniture.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Basic computer usage.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies or blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• Completes reports as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with a nursing home or hospital are preferred.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, stand, walk, reach, kneel, handle, push, pull, lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
