Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a detail-oriented housekeeping professional to maintain cleanliness and disinfection across patient areas, hallways, and facilities. The role involves moving furniture, restocking supplies, and documenting discharges in the bedtracking system.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, plus healthcare housekeeping experience and the ability to work independently with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, preferred.
• Minimum of one year housekeeping experience in a healthcare environment, preferred.
• Ability to use carts, floor care machines, vacuums, scrapers, dust pans, brushes, buckets and wringers, chemicals, etc., required.
• Ability to work independently, follow directions, and stay detail oriented with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of proper handling procedures for regulated medical and solid waste.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects ceilings, walls, floors, furniture, and bathrooms across areas.
• Arranges and moves furniture, mattresses, equipment and supplies.
• Restocks and transports supplies.
• Reports minor repair requests and unsafe conditions to supervisor or Engineering.
• Enters discharge information into the bedtracking system.
• Prefers the candidate to be capable of performing related duties as required.

Job description

Job Responsibility

• Cleans and disinfects: High (ceiling vents, ceilings) and low (window sills, floors, furniture) dusting, sweeping, mopping, stripping floors, finishing floors, burnishing floors, wiping walls, ledges, sills, beds, phones, glass, stainless steel, elevators, furniture, bathrooms, vacuums, shampoo, trash and linen collection, trash packing, trash compacting, plants, partitions, doors, door jambs, kickplates, baseboards, cribs, bassinets, ceilings, sidewalks and curbs, loading docks. May change linen and make beds, cleans and disinfects window coverings.
• Arranges and moves furniture, mattresses, equipment and supplies.
• Restocks and transports supplies.
• Reports minor work repair requests and unsafe conditions to supervisor or Engineering department.
• Enters information of discharges into bedtracking system.
• Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

• Ability to work independently and to follow directions. Detail oriented, strong interpersonal, verbal and organizational skills, required.
• Knowledge of proper handling procedures of regulated medical and solid waste, required.
