Job summary

Avamere Skilled Advisors, LLC d/b/a Avamere Living is seeking a full-time Housekeeper at Avamere at Park Place in Portland, OR. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe environment in a senior living setting, including resident rooms, common areas, and support spaces.

You will perform dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom sanitation, laundry-related tasks, and infection-control procedures while delivering compassionate service to residents and coordinating with care staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  • Follow daily work assignments.
  • Clean furnishings, fixtures in resident rooms and areas daily.
  • Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures; remove watermarks.
  • Clean windows/mirrors in rooms and common areas.
  • Vacuum, mop, strip, wax, disinfect floors.
  • Vacuum carpets; deodorize and disinfect.
  • Clean walls/ceilings; wipe surfaces.
  • Remove dirt and stains with appropriate solutions.
  • Perform terminal cleaning when residents discharge.
  • Collect soiled linens; sort by fabric and soil.
  • Operate commercial washers and dryers.
  • Label clothing for memory care residents.
  • Keep laundry area clean and safe; report malfunctions.
  • Dispose of waste daily.
  • Keep areas clean and equipment stored.
  • Maintain infection control practices.
  • Coordinate isolation cleaning with nursing care.
  • Report hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Follow fire safety policies.
  • Comply with sanitation procedures for waste.
  • Prevent hazards in work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

A Housekeeper in an independent living, assisted living, or memory care facility is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents and staff. This includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, restaurants, and administrative office areas. They perform tasks like dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, and changing linens.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  • Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc., daily as instructed.
  • Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Assure that watermarks are removed from fixtures.
  • Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
  • Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
  • Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
  • Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
  • Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
  • Perform terminal cleaning procedures, as instructed, when a resident is discharged and/or transferred to another room/area. Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
  • Collect soiled linens and personal clothing daily from resident rooms and designated drop-off points. Sort items by fabric, color, and soil level, specifically identifying articles that require specialized stain treatment or delicate handling.
  • Operate commercial-grade washers and dryers according to established sanitation and thermal disinfection protocols. Properly measure and dispense detergents, bleaches, and softeners.
  • For memory care residents, ensure that clothing is systematically labeled or tagged to prevent loss. Change and launder linens and clothing immediately whenever they become soiled or wet.
  • Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Regularly clean machine filters, drums, and surrounding surfaces to prevent lint buildup and maintain safety. Report malfunctioning equipment to facility management.
  • Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
  • Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and end of the workday.
  • Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
  • Assure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
  • Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing care; a thorough cleaning and disinfection process after residents leave an isolation room, to eliminate pathogens and prevent the spread of infections.
  • Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor.
  • Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.
  • Keep work/assigned areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
