Job summary

Job description

Under direct supervision, performs daily cleaning tasks for students, faculty and staff in classrooms, lounges, restrooms, offices, and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Facilities Services Department.Responsibilities and Duties:Perform all custodial services-related tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, client staff and customersPerform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methodsDusts horizontal surfacesEmpties wastebaskets, removes waste, relines basket.Damp wipe cleans all furnitureCleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathroomsMops and sanitizes floors of rooms and officesSpot cleans walls and windowsPolishes metal surfacesVacuums carpets; spot cleans as neededScrub or buff floors with appropriate equipmentVacuum and shampoo carpets for cleaning and bacteria control with industrial vacuumReplenishes room suppliesStrip and refinish hard surface floorsMeasure and mix cleaning chemicalsAssist in cleaning of emergency spills when observed or upon requestMaintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommends repairs as neededObserve and report the general need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixturesSnow removalEvent set-upsOther duties as assignedWork Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
