Job description

We’re looking for a Housekeeper with a compassionate mindset and a passion for helping seniors. A self-starter with enthusiasm and initiative. This team member loves caring for patients and knows how to develop lasting trust. This schedule would be flexible! Could this be you?

Job Purpose: This position will clean the apartments or residents, all common areas, including the dining room and restrooms, to assure provision of a clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly environment for the residents, employees and public.

Duties

• Responsible for the weekly cleaning of all residents’ apartments to include: wet mop the hard floors; vacuum carpets; vacuum or damp dust cleared furniture space, light fixtures, window sills, air vents, wall switches and door handles; clean wash basins mirrors, commodes, tubs/showers in bathroom; clean outside surfaces of kitchen appliances and cabinets, empty trash, etc. Caveat: we do not wash dishes, clean out refrigerators and cupboards or drawers, or move objects to clean under.
• Weekly removal of resident bed linens and remake bed using clean linens; wash/dry and return clean linens to resident(s) within 24 hours. Inspect mattress/box springs weekly for bed bugs and report if found.
• Responsible for cleaning all common areas on a scheduled basis: model apartment, public restrooms, dining room, activity room, library, all laundry rooms, lobby and foyer areas, hallways and stairwells, to include wet mop all hard floor surfaces, vacuum carpets, vacuum or damp dust furniture, light fixtures, window sills, air vents, wall switches and door handles, hall handrails, wall artworks, wash windows using a squeegee, clean wash basins, mirrors, commodes in public restrooms.
• Wash, dry, and fold dining room tablecloths and napkins each day if needed.
• Check all vacant apartments on a scheduled basis to keep fresh and ready for show and sell.
• Report any needed repairs immediately to the front desk (such as leaky faucets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, light bulb replacements, etc.).
• Responsible for the disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials in apartments and common areas (bagged by residents).
• Clean patio furniture outside weekly or as needed, both patios. Dispose of trash.
• Plan work schedule for major tasks such as window washing, carpet shampooing, furniture shampooing, completely stripping and recoating all hard floor areas, and any other major cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Must maintain and operate various mechanized cleaning equipment, including but not limited to vacuums, polishers, buffers, washing machines and clothes dryers, irons, etc.
• Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc. in a safe manner and comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc. Must be aware of MSDS manuals and how to use them.
• Follow instructions on use of germicidal solutions to clean. All procedures for solution use will be part of the housekeeper’s training. Must be aware of MSDS manuals and how to use them.
• Keep assigned housekeeping carts and various cleaning tools clean and ready for use; restock carts before start of each day; notify supervisor of low stock supplies; use proper procedures and tools for cleaning.
• Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings.
