Las Cruces Recovery Center is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for client care. You will perform routine custodial tasks, operate laundry equipment, and ensure supplies meet daily needs.

On-site role in Las Cruces, NM, requiring basic English communication and prior housekeeping experience in a healthcare or clinical setting is preferred. This position emphasizes safety, infection control, and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping in a clinical, healthcare, or commercial environment preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, and speaking English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain a clean, sanitary facility.
• Daily cleaning of the facility: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, bathrooms.
• Clean rooms, baths, laboratories, offices and halls; operate cleaning equipment as needed.
• Launder soiled linens; operate commercial washers and dryers.
• Disinfect rooms, furniture, and equipment following procedures; manage inventory of supplies.
• Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.

About the Job: PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping a clean and healthy client care environment by maintaining assigned areas in a clean, safe, sanitary and orderly manner. Advises supervisor on environmental services equipment needs and repairs. Ensures that infectious waste and confidential disposal contractors perform as scheduled.

Roles and Responsibilities

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs specific cleaning and custodial tasks in the general upkeep, sanitation and cleanliness of the facility.
• Conducts daily cleaning of the facility including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing of fixtures, general straightening, and cleaning of bathrooms.
• Cleans facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices and halls.
• Utilizes buffers, scrubbers, sweepers and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.
• Washes bed frames, brushes mattresses and remakes beds after discharge of clients, when applicable.
• Keeps utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.
• Operates commercial washers and dryers.
• Launders soiled linens as directed.
• Attends to infection control standards, transports soiled linen to storage area and distributes laundered articles and items.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors.
• Work is performed with careful attention to slips/fall risks during and after cleaning floors.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies.
• Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets, transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Disinfects rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies, using appropriate processes and germicides for cleaning equipment.
• Conducts daily check of cleaning cart to determine inventory of supplies.
• Maintains adequate cleaning supplies for department/unit use.
• Conducts daily check of linen supply closet to determine inventory of supplies.
• Properly cleans and stores all equipment and supplies after each shift.
• Practices standard/universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including instructions upon SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for materials encountered during task completion.
• Prepares rooms for meetings and arranges decorations and furniture for facility functions.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, speaking skills and understand English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions required.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• CPR and de-escalation certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Work Location

This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.
