Job summary

Las Cruces Recovery Center is seeking a Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe clinical environment. Responsibilities include cleaning rooms and common areas, handling laundry, and adhering to infection control standards. Onsite role with emphasis on safety and orderliness.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and experience in healthcare housekeeping; basic English literacy is required to follow instructions and communicate with staff. CPR/First aid may be required upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, speaking skills and understand English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions required.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning and custodial tasks in general upkeep, sanitation and cleanliness of the facility.
• Cleans facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices and halls using buffers, scrubbers, sweepers and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.
• Washes bed frames, brushes mattresses and remakes beds after discharge of clients when applicable.
• Keeps utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.
• Operates commercial washers and dryers; launders soiled linens as directed.
• Attends to infection control standards; transports soiled linen to storage and distributes laundered articles and items.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors with attention to slip risks.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies; dusts furniture and equipment.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, panels and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets; transports trash to disposal area.
• Disinfects rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment and supplies using appropriate processes.
• Checks cleaning cart inventory daily and maintains supplies.
• Checks linen supply closet inventory daily.
• Cleans and stores all equipment and supplies after each shift.
• Practices standard/universal precautions and safety guidelines per SDS for materials encountered.
• Prepares rooms for meetings and arranges decorations and furniture for facility functions.

About the Job

The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping a clean and healthy client care environment by maintaining assigned areas in a clean, safe, sanitary and orderly manner. Advises supervisor on environmental services equipment needs and repairs. Ensures that infectious waste and confidential disposal contractors perform as scheduled.

Roles and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs specific cleaning and custodial tasks in the general upkeep, sanitation and cleanliness of the facility. Conducts daily cleaning of the facility including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing of fixtures, general straightening, and cleaning of bathrooms.
• Cleans facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices and halls. Utilizes buffers, scrubbers, sweepers and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.
• Washes bed frames, brushes mattresses and remakes beds after discharge of clients, when applicable.
• Keeps utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.

• Conducts daily check of cleaning cart to determine inventory of supplies. Maintains adequate cleaning supplies for department/unit use.
• Conducts daily check of linen supply closet to determine inventory of supplies.
• Properly cleans and stores all equipment and supplies after each shift.
• Practices standard/universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including instructions upon SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for materials encountered during task completion.
• Prepares rooms for meetings and arranges decorations and furniture for facility functions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

• CPR and de-escalation certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

WORK LOCATION

This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.
