Job summary

Hebrew SeniorLife is seeking a Housekeeper to maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe environment in accordance with the Maintenance Department. This on-site role reports to the Director of Facilities and requires strong attention to detail and reliability.

The responsibilities include cleaning floors and restrooms, keeping walkways clear, assisting with resident needs, performing basic maintenance tasks, and reporting any safety concerns promptly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior housekeeping experience.
• Proficient in speaking and reading English.
• Excellent organization, customer service, interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure building and grounds are kept clean and sanitized.
• Keep walkways and entrances clear and safe during weather events.
• Sweep, scrub, mop, vacuum, wax and buff floors; clean restrooms and common areas.
• Ensure building security by performing property checks and monitoring pager system.
• Respond to resident emergencies in a caring and compassionate way.
• Address cleaning needs of the facility in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform minor repairs such as unclogging toilets and changing lightbulbs.
• Report system failures or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

I. Position Summary

Responsible for keeping the facility clean, sanitized, safe and in an orderly manner within the standards set forth by the Maintenance Department.

II. Core Competencies

III. Position Responsibilities

• Keep all walkways and entranceways clear and safe during weather related emergencies
• Sweep, scrub, mop, vacuum, wax and buff floors, remove refuse, clean restrooms and other common areas
• Ensure building security by performing property checks and monitoring pager system
• Respond to resident emergencies in a caring and compassionate way.
• Address concerns and cleaning needs of the facility in a timely and professional manner
• Perform minor repairs such as unclogging toilet and changing lightbulbs
• Report any system failures and/or unsafe conditions in a timely manner
• Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service
• Perform other duties as assigned

IV Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior housekeeping experience
• Basic maintenance skills a plus
• Proficient with speaking and reading the English language

• Must use good judgment and be respectful of residents’ privacy
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a team player
• Must be able to follow directions and procedural guidelines accurately and in a timely manner
• Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action
• Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction

V Physical Requirements

Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, standing for long periods of time and lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs
