Job summary

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services worker to help maintain a clean and safe inpatient environment. The role includes routine cleaning, disinfection, linen handling, and stocking supplies across patient-care areas.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior housekeeping experience in healthcare settings. CPR/de-escalation training may be required upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in housekeeping in a healthcare/clinical setting preferred.
• Ability to follow infection control procedures and hospital cleaning protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain sanitation of the facility.
• Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures and equipment using approved germicides.
• Move and arrange furniture, sweep, scrub, wax or polish floors as needed.
• Launder soiled linens as directed.
• Maintain adequate cleaning supplies and stock as needed.
• Prepare rooms for meetings and facility events.
• Clean and store all equipment after each shift.
• Follow all infection control measures.

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is a licensed 104-bed center that specializes in treating adult patients who have been experiencing acute changes in their emotional and mental well-being.
Covington provides inpatient treatment to alleviate distress, provide stability, and improve each patient’s ability to live a productive and satisfying life.

Essential Functions

• Perform specific cleaning and custodial tasks in the general upkeep, sanitation and cleanliness of the facility.
• Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment and supplies, using appropriate processes and germicides for cleaning equipment.
• Perform other housekeeping duties, such as move and arrange furniture, turn mattresses, clean kitchens, cooking utensils, silverware, sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors as needed.
• Launder soiled linens as directed.
• Maintain adequate cleaning supplies for department/unit use.
• Properly clean and store all equipment and supplies after each shift.
• Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.
• Responsible for stocking of supplies as needed
• Follow all infection control measures.

Other Functions

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping in a commercial, clinical or healthcare environment preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Valid state driver's license, where required in a facility.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
