Job summary

Hignell Inc. in California seeks a reliable Housekeeper to perform light to moderate cleaning and janitorial tasks across facilities. The role follows Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m., with occasional overtime and travel as needed. You will vacuum, mop, clean kitchens and bathrooms, handle trash, restock supplies, operate cleaning tools, and help with special projects while maintaining safety standards and customer-friendly service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; further education preferred (optional).
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• One or more years of housekeeping/cleaning experience.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, punctual, detail oriented, and able to work independently.
• Valid California driver’s license with clean driving history.

Responsibilities

• Vacuums carpets, sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.
• Maintains cleanliness of kitchens including ovens, refrigerators and microwaves; disposes trash; cleans surfaces; washes dishes.
• Cleans and disinfects bathrooms; restocks toiletries.
• Collects and disposes of garbage, including recyclables.
• Demonstrates proper use of cleaning products and equipment.
• Washes windows, tracks, and screens; cleans furniture and woodwork.
• Maintains cleanliness of shop and van; inventories supplies.
• Dusts, cleans blinds, fans, and walls; performs overhead cleaning as needed.
• Operates assigned vehicle and cleaning tools; travels as required.

The Housekeeper is responsible for the performance of light to moderate cleaning and janitorial tasks and assignments.

Required days/hours - Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Essential Functions:

• Vacuums carpets and sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.
• Maintains cleanliness of kitchen area, including ovens, refrigerators and microwaves by removing trash, cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces, and washing and putting away of dishes.
• Maintains cleanliness of bathrooms by removing trash, cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces, and restocking toiletry supplies.
• Collects and disposes of garbage, including recyclable materials.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill in use of appropriate cleaning products.
• Washes windows, tracks, screens on both the interior and exterior.
• Maintains and stocks personal caddy and is responsible for its cleanliness as well as cleanliness of shop and van.
• Performs such tasks as dusting, cleaning blinds, cleaning fan blades, and washing walls.
• Maintains furniture and woodwork by washing, dusting, waxing, and polishing.
• Demonstrates responsible use and care for equipment, vehicles, tools, and other materials.
• Operates assigned vehicle and various hand-held manual and electrical tools and equipment.
• Works independently with little supervision in the completion of assignments.
• Plans, schedules, and sees jobs through to completion.

Other Functions:

• Supports and helps other housekeepers and maintenance employees as requested.

• Ensures that Company tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in proper working condition.

Mental and Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies such as boxes of paper, mop buckets, vacuums, and furniture weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Standing up to 8 hours per day; Walking up to 8 hours per day on uneven, difficult terrain.
• Regular and repetitive grasping, gripping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and working overhead.
• Climbs ladders and completes overhead work for assignments.
• Ability to read and understand product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities except as may be assigned from time to time.

• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
• Intermediate personal skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Current California Driver's License with excellent driving history.
