Job summary

East Tennessee Behavioral Health in Knoxville, TN is seeking an experienced RN leader to oversee nursing operations, ensure adequate staffing, and guide care delivery with a patient-centered, safety-focused approach.

As a charge RN with leadership responsibilities, you will mentor staff, uphold regulatory standards, and coordinate care across units while maintaining high-quality patient outcomes and staff development.

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred.
  • Current registered nursing license in the state of the facility.
  • Greater than 1 year of RN experience strongly preferred.
  • 1 year of RN experience in any setting required.
  • 1 year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
  • Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates and manages census and acuity, allocates nursing resources accordingly.
  • Role models customer service with emphasis on patient safety.
  • Enforces policies for delivery of patient and resident care.
  • Ensures proper staffing for each unit and covers time off.
  • Completes chart checks, logs seclusion/restraint, and accurate MAR/report sheets.
  • Leads rounds and conducts random audits at shift start.
  • Mentors and trains staff, ensures orientation and competency.
  • Supports facility compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards.
  • Ensures safe, compassionate care and coordinates orders and consultations.
  • Documents medical and behavioral health information and nursing care.
  • Administers medications per policy and maintains records.
  • Assists plan of care with measurable goals and updates as patient condition changes.
  • Prioritizes tasks and delegates to ensure quality care.

Knoxville's newest behavioral health provider is seeking experienced RNs to join our team of professionals. As Knoxville's newest behavioral health hospital, we provide a full continuum of behavioral health treatment services for adults and seniors. Our goal is to deliver compassionate, personalized care to those who turn to us in their time of need.

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Responsible for day to day oversite of nursing operations of the facility and ensures staffing is adequate to provide care. When scheduled, oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. As needed, collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed
  • Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety
  • Enforce and interpretpolicies for the delivery of patient and resident care.
  • Ensureproper staffing for each unit,keeping staff ratio, appropriate staffing for patient care needs, covering call-offs and vacation time.
  • Ensurechart checks are completed, seclusion/restraint log is up to date andnursing assessments are completed, as well as MAR’s and report sheets are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Roundsare completed at the beginning of shift and perform random audits.
  • Assistnursing leadersto make sure all staff are oriented and competent to perform required duties. May include coaching staff.
  • Provide mentoring and training as needed.
  • Assistthe nursing leadership teamby ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards.
  • Ensurethe effective delivery of competent, compassionateand safe care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care units.
  • Coordinate all care rendered topatients, including physicianorders and diagnostic information,and ensure consultations are ordered.
  • Documentmedical,behavioral health information and nursing care.
  • Administer medications and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives and interventions defining actions unique to eachpatient'sneeds. Assist in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when thepatient'scondition changes.
  • Prioritizetasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, as well as informing physician of changes in the patient’s conditions. Adjusts staffing accordingly.
  • Utilizeadministrator-on-call for situations that require additional attention.
  • Provides direct care as needed.

Performother functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSN from accredited school of nursingpreferred.
  • Currentregistered nursinglicense in State of facilityrequired
  • Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred.
  • 1 yearof experience as an RN in any setting required.
  • 1 year in psychiatric/recovery programspreferred.
  • Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

Currentcertification or license topracticewithin the state where the facility is located.CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

First aid may be required based on state or facility.
