Job summary

The City of Baltimore, Mayor's Office of Employment is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Engineer to perform general maintenance across hotel facilities. You will handle repairs, preventative work, and routine tasks to ensure safety, cleanliness, and smooth operations for guests and staff.

This position requires physical stamina and flexibility for shift work. Responsibilities include minor repairs, equipment checks, and coordination with departments.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
• 1+ year of general building maintenance and repair experience.
• Good understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
• Strong communication skills for coordination with hotel staff and guests.
• Ability to read manuals and order supplies if needed.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Complete minor work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, filters, light bulbs, and minor repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is ready for the next shift.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of building exterior and interior areas.
• Refurbish furniture and fixtures in guest rooms as needed.
• Respond promptly to guest questions and coordinate with other departments.
• Report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
