Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Maintenance Engineer at our InterContinental Indianapolis property. You’ll keep the hotel facilities operating at peak performance, troubleshoot issues, and uphold a safe, welcoming environment for guests and staff.

This hands-on role values pride in appearance, functionality, and guest experience. You’ll repair and refurbish items around the hotel, follow a preventative maintenance calendar, and communicate supply needs to your supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Two years of maintenance or repair work experience
  • High school diploma or related vocational training
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Reasonable level of fitness – on your feet most of the day and able to bend/kneel
  • Excellent communication skills and a welcoming demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Repairing, replacing and refurbishing items around the hotel
  • Ensuring safety and cleanliness of indoor and outdoor areas
  • Following the preventative maintenance calendar and identifying improvements for guest experience
  • Keeping supervisor/duty manager informed about supply levels

About This Position

The hotel maintenance engineer helps keep the property operating at its best by maintaining facilities, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for guests and staff. This role requires a hands‑on problem solver who takes pride in the appearance, functionality, and overall guest experience of the hotel.

A little taste of your day‑to‑day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  • Repairing, replacing and refurbishing items around the hotel
  • Taking responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of areas inside and outside of the hotel
  • Following the preventative maintenance calendar and looking for new ways to improve our guests’ experiences
  • Keeping your supervisor or duty manager in the loop with supply levels
  • Being ready to step up and take on extra duties when the team needs you
What We Need From You
  • You’ll have at least two years of maintenance or repair work under your belt
  • A high school diploma or related vocational training
  • On top of building equipment and hand tools, you’ll have a working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics and preventative maintenance procedures
  • A reasonable level of fitness – you’ll be on your feet most of the day, and will need to bend and kneel a lot
  • Great communication skills, you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to

The hourly pay rate for this role is $20.
