Job summary

Merlin Entertainments' LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad, CA seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician to cover evenings and weekends, maintaining a safe, clean resort and delivering fun for guests. You will perform painting, plumbing, drywall repair, electrical and basic carpentry while collaborating with a friendly team.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 4+ years in facilities maintenance and construction, tool knowledge, ability to read blueprints, and calmness under pressure.

Job description

The schedule for this position is primarily evenings and weekends.

Scope and Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, neat, and orderly work areas and equipment at all times.

• Exercise flexibility to handle a wide range of highly complex and challenging duties throughout the resort with extreme care, focused attention, and skillful precision.

Essential Job Functions

• Keep safety as the top priority; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety data sheet (SDS) instructions.
• Follow applicable building codes, ordinances, and regulations, including OSHA.
• Adhere to LEGOLAND California policies and procedures.
• Assist in a variety of maintenance-related tasks as needed by the department.
• Apply internal maintenance, safety, and security procedures, including ASTM, NEC, State and local electrical codes, and loss prevention guidelines.
• Operate simple machine tools such as drill presses, power saws, grinders, power drills, and hand tools.
• Identify equipment that needs repair, replacement, or adjustment and report to a supervisor.
• Keep tools, machines, and all other company equipment clean and in proper working order.
• Attend departmental training, supplemental courses, and seminars to stay up to date on technical information and products.
• Serve as a liaison with fellow maintenance team members and other departments.
• Respond to emergency calls for repairs and maintenance as directed by the maintenance supervisor.
• Work outdoors in any weather condition and stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Have flexible availability around the resort, including nights, weekends, and holidays as agreed upon.
• Notify the supervisor of any equipment or tool discrepancies.
• Ensure all assigned work is completed to a high standard of workmanship.
• Have experience in basic painting, plumbing, drywall repair and patching, electrical, and carpentry work.
• Stay informed and updated on modern techniques and technical methods.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 18 years old.
• Minimum of four years of experience in facilities maintenance and repair.
• Minimum of four years of construction experience.
• Considerable knowledge of tools and equipment used to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
• Ability to remain calm and rational under pressure or in emergencies.
• Proficiency in reading and evaluating reports, correspondence, and blueprints, and basic math skills.
• A friendly, polite, guest service‑oriented demeanor.

Physical Requirements

• Regular standing, walking, and lifting (including up to 100 pounds).
• Ability to perform routine tasks such as bending, twisting, and gripping.
• Adequate vision, hearing, and ability to operate within a range of temperatures (15°F–95°F).

Background and Experience

• Prior experience with maintenance systems and support for complex resort operations.

Other Requirements

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Pay Range

Compensation between USD $23.00/Hr. – USD $23.00/Hr.
