PAQ, Inc. is seeking a Hot Deli Combo Clerk in California. You will support the Hot Deli Lead, provide friendly service, prepare and serve foods, and help maintain a clean, efficient department.

You will follow FIFO, handle cash, operate POS systems, and ensure food safety and quality while working weekends, evenings, and holidays.

No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided; 18+ years old; pay range $16.90-$21.50 per hour with benefits.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
On-the-job training provided; no prior experience required.
Retail or customer service experience is a plus.
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and helpful customer service, including handling difficult situations and resolving customer concerns, with supervisor assistance as needed.
Follow approved procedures for receiving, pricing, and stocking products to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper rotation.
Prepare, package, and serve a variety of prepared foods.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly department to ensure a positive image for customers.
Maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality, and turnover, minimizing out-of-stock or overstocked items.
Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy to control the level of damaged goods.
Maintain clean and organized eating, serving, food preparation areas, and utensils and equipment, ensuring following sanitation, health, and safety standards.
Ensure quality standards by following the FIFO (First In, First Out) methodology.
Follow strict sanitation and food safety guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic cooking environment.
Perform Cook I and other duties as assigned.

The Hot Deli Combo Clerk supports the Hot Deli Lead in meeting the department's sales and profit goals and contributes to a positive customer shopping experience by upholding quality standards. Hot Deli Combo Clerks are vital to store operations, often serving as the point of contact for customers. The Hot Deli Combo Clerk also assists with hot deli duties and responsibilities as needed.

Essential Functions of the Position

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
Exhibit manual dexterity for handling money and operating POS systems, including 10-key adding machines and self-checkout (SCO) systems.
Utilize cash handling tools, including counterfeit bill detection pens and equipment.
Working in a hot environment due to fryers, stoves, ovens, and other cooking equipment.
Ability to tolerate variations in temperature and handle hot items safely.
Good vision to ensure the quality and appearance of dishes and read labels.
Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Conditions

Work Hours: Vary, with availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically, 8-hour shifts for full-time employees.

Environment: Indoor, climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Exposure to hot temperatures from fryers, stoves, ovens, and warmers, as well as cooler temperatures in refrigerated areas and freezers.

Food Handling: Regularly handling various food products may involve exposure to allergens.

Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire as determined by store management, including a name tag, company-issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair, and not faded. Use approved hats or hair nets. Wear safety toes and non-slip shoes.

Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts. Exposure to hot, wet, damp, and slippery conditions. Exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Noise Level: Working in an environment with moderate to high noise levels from mixers, ovens, and other cooking equipment.

Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast-paced retail environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.
Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
