Job summary

University of Missouri-Columbia's MURR facility is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform preventative and emergent maintenance on hot cells, glove boxes, manipulators, and related systems essential to medical isotope production and research. The role is in a secure, highly regulated laboratory and reactor environment.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with occasional after-hours on-call work. A high school diploma is required; two-year technical degree is preferred.

• Experience performing maintenance and following maintenance procedures preferred.

• Perform routine and emergent maintenance on production and research equipment to ensure continued operations.
• Maintain and repair hot cells, manipulators, glove boxes, and associated mechanical systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inside glove boxes and on glove box equipment.
• Maintain accurate and current documentation of all maintenance activities and repairs.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are stocked and available.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in maintenance processes and methods; support approved changes.

This position plays a critical role in supporting MURR’s mission by ensuring that radioisotope production and research operations continue with minimal interruptions. The Maintenance Technician will perform preventative and emergent maintenance on highly specialized equipment, including hot cells, glove boxes, manipulators, and other systems essential to medical isotope production and research activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergent maintenance on production and research equipment to ensure continued and uninterrupted operations.
• Maintain and repair hot cells, manipulators, glove boxes, and associated mechanical systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inside glove boxes and on glove box equipment.
• Maintain accurate and current documentation of all maintenance activities and repairs.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are stocked and available.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in maintenance processes and methods; propose and support implementation of approved changes.
• Troubleshoot technical issues efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to safety and security requirements.
• Support the overall maintenance function to ensure the Research Reactor can reliably fulfill its mission.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a secure, highly regulated laboratory and reactor environment.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces, wear protective equipment, and lift/move moderately heavy equipment or materials.
• Occasional after-hours or on-call work may be required in response to emergent maintenance needs.

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on mechanical equipment
• Experience performing maintenance and following maintenance procedures
• Two year associates degree in a technical field preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Grade: GGS M05
