La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in San Diego is seeking a friendly Host to coordinate dining room seating and reservations, creating a positive first impression for guests.
You will supervise dining room staff, greet patrons, answer calls, and assist with payments while maintaining our Signature Service standards and safety certifications.

Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to patrons.
The Host creates the first impression on the phone or in person. It is a position that is essential to the efficient and smooth operation of the dining room to ensure that customers have a positive dining experience and to ensure that employees have appropriate supervisory guidance.
Assists in supervision in the restaurant dining area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and solving problems.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience at a restaurant preferred.
Must obtain and maintain a San Diego County Food Handlers and Responsible Beverage Service certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, burns from hot equipment and lacerations from sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The pace is generally moderate and may be quite fast. Employees are required to perform all tasks as safely as possible and to adhere to the applicable safety procedures. Employees in this position have daily interaction with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, as well as customers. Employees also regularly interact with other department personnel. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with and interact with these and other designated internal or external customers.
This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
