Job summary

City Winery Chicago is seeking a Restaurant Host to deliver consistently exceptional guest experiences from arrival to departure, greet guests, answer inquiries, and assist with reservations.

As the first and last contact, you will seat guests, coordinate with staff, maintain a tidy dining area, manage calls and messages, and support daily operations. A flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience as a Host in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment.
• Strong work ethic, team player, and exceptional guest service skills.
• Ability to deliver high-quality guest experiences and create a memorable City Winery visit.
• Fluent English with reading, writing and basic math for POS use.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive guest experience greeting, conversing with, and thanking guests.
• Escort guests to seats and set up dining experience per floor plan.
• Manage reservations, calls, and inquiries; communicate with departments as needed.

Position Summary

RestaurantHosts are responsible for delivering consistently exceptional guest experiencesto guests of City Winery. The Host serves as the first and last point ofcontact throughout the guest experience and is responsible for greeting guestswhile entering and departing the location, handling inquiries and reservations,and supporting in other areas of the operation as needed.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Provide positive guest experience including greeting, conversingwith, and thanking departing guests
• Escort guests to seats and set them up for a pleasurable diningexperience based on appropriate floor plan
• Accommodate guest requests while seeking management approvalwhen appropriate
• Manage all call-ins and walk-in inquiries, directing toappropriate departmental contacts or taking messages and communicating to suchdepartments as necessary
• Ensure all dining areas are tidy, presentable, and in safecondition and set up/rearrange/breakdown dining room for service accordingly
• Manage miscellaneous day-to-day communications, including butnot limited to, voicemails, emails, deliveries, and reservation calls andcommunicate any important reservations/guest inquiries
• Maintain all reservations/seating through designated system
• Provide guests with accurate wait time estimates during busyperiods
• Perform necessary opening/closing tasks
• Rotate seating between different stations to ensure evenworkloads for waitstaff
• Maintain a knowledge of City Winery brand, history, culture, andprogramming, both in venue and restaurant
• Maintain menu knowledge, including ingredients, preparationmethods, and allergen information and communicate this informationtableside to guests
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas always
• Attend training, tastings, meetings, as needed
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelinesincluding being ready to work at scheduled shift time, in uniform, with neatand presentable appearance.
• Perform all other reasonably assigned duties

Minimum Qualifications

• 1+ years’experience as a Host in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment and/orequivalent relevant experience
• Strong work ethic,team player, and exceptional guest service skills
• Ability toconsistently deliver high-quality guest experiences, exceed guest expectations,and strive to create a memorable experience at every City Winery visit
• Effectivecommunication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positiverelationships with people in the scope of employment
• Ability toexecute professional guest service experience
• Ability tohandle all guests with composure and hospitality
• Ability towork both independently and in a team environment
• Must befluently literate in English including ability to read, write, communicate,conduct basic business-related mathematics, and able to accurately function aPOS
• Ability towork a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability toperform physical requirements of the role including standing/walking for theentirety of shift, bending, pulling, pushing, using stairs, lifting andcarrying up to 50 lbs.
