Job summary

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, seeks a Hospitalist Physician to join our Hospital Medicine team. You will provide broad inpatient care across a 20-bed unit and an open ICU, working with an experienced multidisciplinary team and enjoying autonomy with flexible day/night scheduling.

The role supports a 3‑physician rotation, NP coverage during the day, and opportunity for independent practice within a critical access hospital setting in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE).
• Minimum one year of Hospitalist experience required.
• Current Vermont Medical License or ability to obtain one.
• Current Vermont DEA Certificate or ability to obtain one.
• BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in ventilator management.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care, including diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, preventive care, and health maintenance.
• Manage admissions, inpatient care, and discharge planning while collaborating with patients, families, primary care providers, and specialists.
• Respond to rapid response events and code situations while providing clinical leadership and support to interdisciplinary teams.
• Review diagnostic studies, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate referrals when appropriate.
• Participate in peer review, quality improvement activities, provider meetings, and ongoing professional development.
