As a Physician Hospitalist, employee provides services dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients. Practitioners of hospital medicine engage in clinical care, teaching, research, or leadership in the field of general hospital medicine. In addition to their core expertise managing the clinical problems of acutely ill, hospitalized patients, hospital medicine practitioners work to enhance the performance of hospitals and healthcare systems by Prompt and complete attention to all patient care needs including diagnosis, treatment and the performance of medical procedures (within their scope of practice).
Employee may be expected to provide professional services outside the Scope of Services identified in his or her contract as needed in times of emergencies or other exigent circumstances.
Provides medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing patient care within the scope of their education, training, experience, licensure, and board certification (if applicable). Exercises clinical judgment in accordance with accepted standards of medical practice, applicable laws and regulations, and organizational policies. Performs only those clinical services for which they have been granted medical staff privileges and/or clinical practice prerogatives by the organization and maintains all required credentials and certifications necessary to fulfill those responsibilities.
