Job summary

STJ St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV is seeking a Security Officer to provide information and safety oversight for patients, visitors and staff. You will enforce WVU Medicine policies and procedures to maintain a secure environment within the Security Program.

Responsibilities include patrolling, assisting with transport, access control, incident reporting, and supporting emergency responses. Strong communication, decision-making, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Obtain BLS or HeartSaver First Aid within 60 days of hire.
• State and Federal background checks as required for regulated areas.
• Security/Safety certification/education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains visibility at assigned locations to assist patients, visitors and staff with information.
• Responds to requests for information/assistance in a courteous manner.
• Provides physical assistance, transport and access control for patients and staff.
• Monitors traffic and parking areas, issues permits and enforces parking rules.
• Reports incidents and suspicious activity per policies and procedures.
• Conducts routine rounds and building checks.
• Documents activities and incidents factually and legibly.
• Responds to emergencies (fire, disasters, etc.).
• Operates hospital vehicles safely and performs vehicle inspections.
