Job summary

Kettering Health Network in Springfield is seeking a Police Officer to patrol the medical center, protect staff and patients, and enforce laws on site and across the network. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, an Ohio driver license, completion of OPOTA academy within 3 months, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Ohio driver's license.
• Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission police academy within 3 months of application.
• Ability to obtain an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission certificate upon hire.
• Ability to acquire and maintain Secretary of State Police Commission (granted by KHN PD).
• Ability to successfully complete annual OPOTA firearms qualification course.
• Ability to obtain CPR certification upon hire.
• Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies and laws that address public safety related aspects in the health care setting (preferred).
• Never charged or convicted with a disqualifying offense per Ohio Administrative Code 3701-13-05.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned medical center to protect lives and property.
• Enforce laws and prevent crime; establish police presence within the medical centers and other assigned areas.
• Receive and respond to complaints; handle emergency calls; interview complainants, suspects and victims; make arrests as required.
• Intervene and counsel parties to disputes; assist medical staff when requested.
