Qualifications

  • Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes and ordinances is required.
  • Completion of five-year apprenticeship with blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical wiring and plumbing.
  • Minimum of three years work experience in plumbing.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect systems for pressure loss and leaks.
  • Investigate and perform system outages.
  • Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Fit valves, couplings and other plumbing devices by screwing, bolting or soldering and seal connections with joint compounds, gaskets or caulking by using appropriate tools.
  • Install, repair and maintain pipe assemblies and plumbing fixtures from blueprints and sketches (e.g., chilled water, heating hot water, medical gas).
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Mark, cut and bend pipe to meet specifications using hacksaw, pipe cutter or cutting machine.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Prepare pipe for installation (cutting, threading, deburring, grooving, bending).
