Job summary

Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, Oregon seeks a full-time phlebotomist to perform blood collections for inpatients and outpatients, on-site and off-site. Under supervision, you will process specimens for testing and perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing.

You will maintain quality control, track specimens, instruct patients on urine and stool collection, and collect nasal and pre-employment drug screen samples.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to collect blood and specimens with care and accuracy.
• HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality expected.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and lab collection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomies and capillary blood collections for inpatients and outpatients.
• Process specimens for testing and order testing for reference laboratories.
• Follow CLIA waived testing procedures and quality control practices.
• Maintain tracking of all specimens submitted to pathology.
• Instruct patients on urine and stool specimen collection.
• Collect nasal washings and urine samples for drug screens.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare Medical Necessity rules.
• Monitor daily workflow and address customer concerns as needed.
