Job summary

Kindred Hospital Baldwin Park is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipunctures and related specimen collection duties under the supervision of the Area Laboratory Director or Lab Manager.

Responsibilities include collecting blood specimens, labeling and documenting test tubes, maintaining dedicated work areas, and using the Laboratory Information System. Requires HS diploma, formal phlebotomy training, current BLS, and state licensure where required.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Six (6) months acute care phlebotomy experience or one (1) year as a medical assistant performing venipuncture or one (1) year outpatient lab experience preferred.
• HS Graduate or equivalent; Formal Phlebotomy training as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture according to physician orders and procedures.
• Label and record test tubes, logs, and paperwork.
• Explain procedures and provide testing information to patients to reduce anxiety.
• Maintain venipuncture trays, supplies, and work areas; order supplies as needed.
• Use LIS to document specimen collection, receipt, and manifests; perform clerical lab tasks as delegated.
