Qualifications

• Licensed, "good standing" pharmacist in the state of Louisiana.
• In-patient hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call as needed.
• IV experience preferred.
• Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Manual dexterity for occasional reach, lifting and handling of small objects.
• Computer savvy to operate multiple pharmacy information systems.
• Vendor Credentialing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician orders using the pharmacy information system and adjusts dosages per established protocols.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant, efficient operations and adherence to state regulations.
• Adjusts dosages and conducts antimicrobial stewardship tasks as required.
• Educates patients on proper medication use and expectations during transitions.
• Manages narcotics, inventory control, and compliance; audits outdated meds where allowed.
• Contacts nurses and physicians to verify orders and obtain additional information.
• Assists Pharmacy Director with accreditation tasks and implementing new systems or procedures.
