Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with coursework in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years.
• Certification options: RHIT, CPC, CCS or equivalent.
• Must achieve a minimum score of 75% on the Hospital Outpatient Coder test.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures.
• Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT and HCPCS Level II.
• Determine correct code sequencing per guidelines.
