Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a per diem Laundry Worker for Wayne MED. You will participate in all stages of laundry processing, from receiving, washing, ironing, folding, to distribution of clean linen across user areas and outside facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• At least one year in a Laundry setting preferred.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares clean laundry for processing and for loading and unloading from dryers and linen carts; operates machines including washers, dryers, ironer, and folders.
• Operates at flatwork ironer and handles feeding, taking away, and folding linen; sorts contaminated linen per wash procedures.
• Reports malfunctions of any equipment.
• Folds, counts, packs, and delivers clean linen to user areas and outside facilities.
• Organizes and restocks linen carts, shelves, and closets according to distribution procedure.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning chemicals for the department.
• Assists in cleaning laundry equipment.
• Ensures cleaning equipment and supplies are available for all processes.
• Assists with training new employees in operation of flatwork ironer.
• Answers telephone and files telephone orders.
• Separates torn or stained linen and processes it per policy.
• Unloads washer and loads dryer per department policy.
