Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Technologist/Medical Technologist to perform accurate laboratory testing, ensure quality control, and maintain comprehensive records. The role supports patient care in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to step in for leadership when supervisors are unavailable.

The candidate should have an Associate degree in medical technology (Bachelor’s preferred), 1 year MT experience preferred, and Florida licensure or the ability

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in medical technology or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of MT experience preferred.
• Florida technologist license required or able to obtain during interview process.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing per instructions.
• Assume department responsibility in absence of supervisor.
• Complete all records/documentation pertaining to patient results.
• Perform stat procedures within turnaround targets.
• Use judgment in interpretation of patient results and delta checks.
• Review logs and resolve outstanding workload with staff relief.
• Perform quality control procedures per protocol and handle critical specimens.

What you will do in this role:

• Performaccurateandtimelylaboratory testing by analyzingproficiencytesting samples according to instructions and complete within the allowabletime frame
• Assume responsibility of the department asappropriate inthe absence of the supervisor
• Complete all required records/documentationpertaining topatient results
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
• Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results. (Including performing delta checks, etc.)
• Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs; resolve any outstanding workload or communicate to staff relief
• Perform quality control procedures per protocol and handle all problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results

What Qualifications you will need:

• A 2 Year/Associate Degreeisrequired
• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technologyis preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist preferred
• A State of Florida Technologist License isrequiredOR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process

Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas: (Generalist highlypreferred)-Blood BankBank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology
