Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to prepare pharmaceutical orders for patient care areas and maintain stock levels according to Pharmacy guidelines. The role involves reviewing for expired drugs, logging refrigerator temperatures, and assisting pharmacists in daily operations.

You will fill medication orders, retrieve and deliver medications, and help prepare urgent-use IV stock while maintaining accurate records and a clean, compliant work area.

Qualifications

• Hospital pharmacist technician with at least some experience in IV preparation.
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and sterile compounding.
• Strong attention to detail in medication preparation and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Fills medication orders accurately.
• Retrieves and delivers medication in a timely fashion.
• Maintains adequate stock levels and avoids over-stock.
• Prepares and checks urgent-use stock orders.
• Reviews medication areas for expired drugs.
• Maintains refrigerator temperature logs in pharmacy areas and units.
• Determines IV antibiotic needs at shift start.
• Prepares Laminar Flow Hood for use.
• Operates the Baxa pump.
• Reconstitutes antibiotic piggyback bottles aseptically.
• Defrosts frozen IV mini-bags.
• Prepares antibiotic concentrate and adds to diluents.
• Rotates antibiotic products and disposes of expired items.
• Fills satellite orders not in centralized IV program.
• Keeps area neat and hygienic.
• Disposes of intravenous needles and tubing properly.
• Assists in maintaining required records.
• Provides general assistance to the pharmacist.
• Maintains inventory of IV supplies.
• Prepares pre-manufactured IVs with patient labels for pharmacist checks.
• Delivers patient IVs to nursing units.
• Performs related duties.
