Job summary

Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, MA is seeking an HVAC Technician to support inspection, maintenance, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems across facilities. The role reports to the HVAC Supervisor and focuses on reliability, safety, and energy efficiency in clinical and support areas.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, EPA CFC certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Assist in maintenance planning and preventative maintenance tasks.
Troubleshoot HVAC/refrigeration systems and repair service work orders.
Maintain air-cooled chillers up to 150 tons and central station air handling units up to 55,000 CFM.
Maintain refrigeration systems for food service, laboratory, and medical walk-in coolers and freezers.
Diagnose refrigeration circuit problems and perform testing, charging, brazing and repairs.
Maintain gas-fired heating water boilers and distribution piping systems.
Manage air distribution systems and ensure proper pressure in sterile rooms and patient areas.
Maintain HVAC control systems and troubleshoot DDC/controls equipment with the controls staff.
Read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
Participate in on-call rotations for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Respond to emergency repairs to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Monitor parts and supplies, and coordinate procurement with vendors.
