Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to perform cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, corridors, public rooms, offices, and other designated areas as needed.

Responsibilities include daily turnover cleaning and terminal cleaning of areas such as the Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, NICU, and other units, with strict adherence to Caring Values and operating principles. Strong interpersonal skills and compliance with safety protocols are required.

Qualifications

• High level interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
• GED or HiSET is required.
• Experience in cleaning and disinfecting hospital areas preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and customers using scripting.
• Maintain flexibility, organization and prioritize work.
• Work in a team environment with unit staff.
• Follow health, safety and attendance requirements.
• Adhere to policies and regulations of the system and department.
• Perform daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Move and clean equipment as needed.
• Follow procedure guidelines and standard precautions for contaminated equipment.
• Conduct daily terminal cleaning and maintain log books; use UV-C disinfection technology.
• Clean and disinfect all surfaces, equipment and furniture.
• Properly remove waste and recyclables.
• Daily floor cleaning and cubicle curtain changes.
• Maintain pace in high intensity units.
• Break down and disinfect specialty equipment and move rolling stock as needed.
