Job summary

UNM Hospital Environmental Services is seeking a dedicated hospital attendant to perform housekeeping in the Operating Room, Recovery Room, and related areas, while providing safe patient transportation and related non-patient pick-up and delivery tasks.

The role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, safe patient handling across Neonate to Geriatric age groups, and participation in ongoing educational programs to support patient safety and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1/2 year (6 months) directly related experience.
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers within 30 days.
• Operating room environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inventory and order stock supplies for the unit.
• Clean assigned areas and equipment with germicidal solutions.
• Sweep and mop floor areas to maintain cleanliness.
• Transport patients to and from requesting areas following safety rules.
• Dispose of waste and manage hazardous materials per procedures.
• Prepare rooms for next cases and report safety hazards.
• Assist in surgical prepping and positioning patients.
• Follow departmental policies and contribute to quality assurance.
