Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Hospital Driver for the Lab Couriers department. You will drive a hospital vehicle to and from outpatient laboratory facilities, pick up and deliver specimens, reports, and supplies following procedures and client instructions.

The role offers either part-time 20 hours/week (4pm-12am, Monday to Wednesday) or full-time 40 hours/week (Saturday to Wednesday, 8:30am-4:30pm).

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
  • No previous experience is required.
  • Requires basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.

Responsibilities

  • Drives hospital vehicle on daily scheduled and unscheduled trips to and from out-patient laboratory facilities, physician's offices, etc., to pickup and deliver laboratory specimens, reports, and supplies.
  • Completes deliveries thoroughly and efficiently by using available specimen handling and other procedures, schedules, checklist, and client specific instructions.
  • Contacts Manager if delivery or pickup is not completed; assigns priorities if multiple requests; reports problems to a Manager or Section Leader for resolution.
  • Transports items for other departments such as Materials Management, Radiology, Cardiology, and Urgent Care as needed.
  • May be asked to transport medical waste.
  • Answers client questions and refers inquiries to Manager or Client Representative when needed.

Completes pickup and delivery for other hospital departments such as Materials Management (interdepartmental mail), Radiology (films), Cardiology (holter monitor readings) and Urgent Care (cash). May be asked to transport medical waste. Answers client questions and accommodates requests, where possible, or refers question or request to Manager, Section Leader, or Client Representative.
